Mike, Justin, Ryan, Eric, Mitchell, Carrie, Abby and Cassie are seniors at Mayville High School and have been together as a group for seven years. They have established a wide-ranging repertoire. Their public performances are well received, and they are scheduled for several more this year. They love to take on the challenge of performing difficult music and have received first place ratings and "perfect scores" at District and State Solo-Ensemble competitions.
Panic Attack is a combined freshmen/junior steel band which was formed this year. The group has been through three name, and many personnel, changes but are working hard to raise the group performance level. Adam, Lauren, Brian, Rebecca, Chelsey, Aaron, Brooke, Sean and John are eager to perform and have been working hard to establish a more complete repertoire. In the last two years they have advanced to the State Music Festival and have received two "superior" ratings.
The Pantasticks are a group of sophomores who have already had several public performances. Lauren, Mike, Randi, Nick, Erin, Melissa, Adam and Travis have been chosen three times to perform at the State Solo-Ensemble Festival and look forward repeating their past success.
Heavy Metal Steel Band has been playing together for over a year and is working to develop their technique and repetoire. They performed publicly for the first time at a concert for their parents last year. They also performed very well at the annual Caribbean Christmas concert, Dec. 17th of this year. Their next challenge may be the District Solo/Ensemble competition in March. Desiree, Erica, Taylor, Zach, Brittany, Andrew, Gabbie and Sarah are eager to learn.
The Caribbean Steelers are Mayville's newest steel band made up of 6th and 7th grade students. Kayla, Katie, Reagan, Brittney, P.J., Chelsey, Natalie and Levi had their first public performance on Dec. 17th, 2006, at the annual Caribbean Christmas Concert. The group plays with a great deal of confidence for such young players.
The Mayville Adult Steel Drum Band has been performing steel drum music for ten years. The main purpose of the group is to have fun practicing and performing on steel drums. A clarinet and flute are sometimes added to arrangements for variety. The members come from a variety of backgrounds, including teacher and retired teacher, church secretary, and business owner. Pangelics members are: Rita Pautsch, lead and clarinet; Ruth Christensen and Rick Wrensch, lead; Joanne Dethardt, Lisa Coffman, and Ginny Reehl, double second and flute; Pat Frings, cellos; Jean Cooper, basses; Ben Reehl, Engine Room.
Alumni Steel Drum Band Steel Band Alumni have had a great time playing during the summer. Most are home from college, though some travel from their colleges to perform with the group. The band numbers between six and nine players, though nearly twenty alums participated in the fifteen performances last summer.
